The internet is a wonderful place where people can do various things.
People use it for work, learning something new, communicating with
others, streaming music, and just about everything else. I use the
internet for work, college, and for my social life.
One of the most important reasons I use the internet is for college.
I’m going to college for Information Technology at Sitting Bull
College and a lot of the homework I have requires internet. Without
the internet, I wouldn’t be able to get it done as well. I even
have a class where I have to use an online portal so I can read the
class material and take the quizzes and tests required in that class.
The internet will affect college in the future for me because when I
go on to my four-year program, I’ll be using the internet to
complete an online application (or downloading a PDF version to mail)
and to fill out essays for scholarships (whether I have to publish it
on a blog or type it on Google Drive and email it to the scholarship
host).
Another very important aspect of my life that the internet has had
and will continue to have on my life other than college, is the
ability to use internet for my work. Right now I sell clothes on a
website called Vinted. To do well on Vinted, the sellers have to use
the internet to do networking to increase sales. For networking, the
sellers usually advertise on the forums and even discuss different
women's lifestyle topics. The forums either help them out with sales
or hurt sales, depending how their attitude is of the topic being
discussed. Even the buying process requires internet. When a person
purchases, there’s a shipping label that’s sent to my e-mail and
I have to download it to print it off to then send in the mail. Once
the buyer receives the item, they leave feedback for the seller, so
the seller can receive the payment, which is usually sent from the
internet to the bank. Internet affects the future of my work because
to find work in my field, I will look on various job search websites.
Usually, when I find a potential job, I will have to fill out an
application online and/or email the person hiring about my interest
in the job.
Because of the internet, I have been able to keep in touch with
family and friends all across the globe. I like to discuss all sorts
of topics on social networks and forums like Facebook, Reddit, and
Imgur. My future will be impacted socially from the internet by
learning about different lifestyles, cultures, and current events.
Other than forums, I will use video chatting services like Skype,
Google Hangout, etc. in my future so I can keep in contact with the
friends and family all over the world.
The internet has helped me in so many aspects of my life and will
continue to be a great benefit towards improving myself, getting a
job, working hard at school, and keeping my friendships I have as
well as making new friends.
